Senior Energy Engineer — Customer Success (AI Data Centers)

HybridFull-time
About the roleWe build the energy intelligence layer for AI data centers. Our platform optimizes how a facility runs its power, cooling, and storage, then measures and settles every dollar saved in a daily ledger. You’ll own what happens after the software goes live. You’re the energy expert a customer’s operators, facility engineers, and finance team trust: the person who turns our recommendations into approved actions, and approved actions into verified savings the customer signs off on. This is an engineering role with a customer in front of it, not an account-management job. Senior individual contributor. Contract-to-hire: you start on a W-2 hourly engagement, with a path to convert to a full-time, permanent role. Hybrid out of Alpharetta, GA; Remote anywhere in the US considered for a strong candidate. Travel to customer sites up to 30%. What you'll doDrive adoption at each customer site. Get operators to approve optimization plans, work through the reasons plans get rejected, and raise the share of recommendations that get acted on.Own measurement and verification with the customer. Set the baseline, review the settlement ledger with their finance team, defend the numbers, and make sure realized savings match projections — or explain exactly why they don’t.Be the energy authority in the room. Read a tariff, explain a demand charge, walk through a chiller-staging sequence with a plant engineer, and translate it into what changes on the customer’s bill and in their operations.Lead onboarding and commissioning on the customer side: tariff structures, point schedules for facility KPIs, alarm thresholds, and procedure libraries. You own the acceptance criteria that mark a site as live.Spot where the platform can do more for a customer — optimization add-ons, tenant energy services, or additional sites — and make the case to expand.Bring the customer’s perspective into product. You’ll sit in sprint reviews and tell the team which recommendations operators trust, which they don’t, and why.Serve as the customer’s named contact for anything energy-related, coordinating the deployment, support, and optimization teams behind you.Measured on: plan approval rate, realized vs. expected savings, dollars settled per site, time from install to acceptance, and expansion to new sites and add-ons. What we're looking for7+ years in energy engineering, energy management, or energy services — in data centers, critical facilities, or industrial or commercial plants3+ years working directly with clients, building owners, or facility operators. ESCO, consulting, and owner’s-rep work all count.Hands-on knowledge of how facilities use energy: utility tariffs and demand charges, chiller plants and cooling, UPS and power distribution, battery storage and demand response. You can look at a load profile and see where the money is.Measurement and verification experience: baselines, normalization, savings calculations, and defending a number to a finance teamExperience with a BMS, SCADA, or energy management system as a user or implementer. You know what a point list is and why alarm thresholds matter. The judgment to sit between an operator who doesn’t trust an automated recommendation and the engineers who built it, and get both to the right answerClear writing, and comfort presenting to a CIO, a plant supervisor, and a finance controller in the same weekNice to haveCEM (Certified Energy Manager) or CMVP (Certified Measurement & Verification Professional) certificationOther credentials such as CEA, PE (Electrical or Mechanical), CDCP/CDCE, Uptime Institute ATD/AOS, CxA, or BEMPTime inside a data center during a commissioning or an incidentESCO or performance-contracting experience where results were measured in verified savingsFamiliarity with demand response and grid-services programsComfort with software products and a SaaS adoption motion — without being a career SaaS CSM
