Senior Employee Relations Partner

About the role
This role will conduct high-risk investigations, manage employee issues to resolution, and advise on employee relations programs and policies. The Senior Employee Relations Partner interfaces with all employees, including management, legal, HR business partners, and external stakeholders, to maintain positive employee relations and resolve workplace issues. The position also takes a proactive approach to determine training needs and ensure upskilling of leaders occurs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the highest level of integrity and confidentiality when managing employee relations issues and investigating reported cases.
- Act as an advocate for equitable and fair treatment, ensuring practices align with the company’s core values.
- Handle investigations supporting sensitive matters, including but not limited to violations of Labcorp’s Anti-Harassment, EEO, Code of Conduct, Compliance, Conditions of Employment, Workplace Violence policies, gross misconduct, theft, or violation of federal, state, or local law.
- Participate in various global employee relations projects and activities, such as leadership development and upskilling.
- Mentor and support junior team members.
- Identify opportunities for global alignment and improvement, partnering with ER experts to deliver solutions (e.g., Investigation and Compliance Lead or Learning and Development Lead).
- Analyze ER trends and recommend actions, solutions, and strategies to address opportunities.
- Serve as the first-level reviewer responsible for all terminations within the area of business responsibility.
- Act as a trusted adviser to senior leaders, helping them make informed decisions that balance business goals with employee welfare.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, law, human resources, or a related field.
- 5 or more years of HR experience, including complex employee relations investigations.
- 1 or more years of experience conducting investigations and advising on sensitive and complex employee relations issues.

- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated patience, tact, and respect.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to conduct thorough and complete investigations and train others on the investigative process.
- Ability to summarize cases succinctly and provide case reviews (to peers, legal, or ER leaders) to make recommendations to the business.
- Awareness of multiple HR disciplines and processes (e.g., compensation, benefits, talent acquisition).
- Familiarity with case management tools such as ServiceNow and Microsoft Office.
- Strong problem-solving skills with minimal guidance required.
- Flexibility and willingness to deal with competing priorities and assist others in a team environment.
- Ability to analyze processes with a desire to innovate and improve.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 or more years of Labor Relations experience.
- 1 or more years of experience analyzing complex data, synthesizing insights, and developing executive-level PowerPoint presentations that drive informed business decisions.
- Current or prior Labcorp experience.
- HR Certification (PHR, SPHR, GPHR, CIPD, etc.).
Schedule
Applicants who live within 35 miles of either the Burlington, NC or Durham, NC location will follow a hybrid schedule. This includes a minimum of three in-office days per week at an assigned location (Burlington or Durham).
Pay
Pay Range: $90,000–$115,000. All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills, prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data. The position is also eligible for an annual bonus under the Labcorp Bonus Plan. Bonuses are payable based on corporate and/or business segment performance and are subject to individual performance modifiers.
