About the role
Thompson Software Solutions is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to support the development of advanced software systems for a military aircraft platform. This role involves developing, integrating, and testing software products for mission-critical avionics and embedded capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop, integrate, and test software products using a wide range of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the software field.
- Collaborate with a high-performing multi-site team, working independently on projects and in a collaborative team environment.
- Work on projects that contribute to the performance, safety, and effectiveness of next-generation military aviation systems.
- Participate in flight software development, software integration & test in lab and hardware environments, and hardware/software integration and troubleshooting.
- Ensure adherence to safety-critical software development practices (DO-178C).
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
- C++ development for safety-critical avionics systems.
- Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (MOSA.ic, VxWorks, Integrity).
- Embedded application development in Linux (Yocto/RHEL), Windows, and Bare Metal environments.
- Flight Software Development Experience.
- Experience with version control and issue tracking (Gitlab, Atlassian suite).
- Familiarity with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools (Cameo).
- Experience with digital simulation (SIL/MIL/HIL) and closed-loop testing.
- Experience with Python development for tooling, automation, and simulation support.
- Experience with Xilinx FPGAs and Vivado, and experience with Xilinx/AMD and MicroSemi/Microchip part families internal FPGA fabric and IP.
- Experience with safety-critical software development and practices (DO-178C).
- Experience with Navigation, Guidance and Control Implementation, and Signal Processing Implementation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Qualifications
- Active Secret Clearance Required.
- Ability to work onsite 100% and travel 10%.

- Proficient with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, etc.).
- Experience with FPGA Software (Xilinx FPGAs and Vivado).
- Experience with Digital Simulation (SIL/MIL/HIL) and Closed-loop Testing.
- Experience with Safety-Critical Software Development (DO-178C).
- Experience with Navigation, Guidance and Control Implementation.
- Experience with Signal Processing Implementation.
- Ability to communicate and document complex technical designs.
