Senior Electronics Design Engineer-Simulation
About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electronics Design Engineer in our Controls System Simulation team. You will be responsible for electronics hardware circuit design and development of Hardware-in-the-Loop real-time simulators used to test and verify engine control and monitoring systems through the full product lifecycle. In this role, you may be involved at any stage of a project, including the initial concept brief, design and development, testing of prototypes, final implementation, support of fielded products, and investigations.
You will work in a multidisciplinary simulation team, collaborating with colleagues in other engineering branches, vendors, and external customers. This position requires up to 20% travel between sites and up to 10% other travel.
Responsibilities
- Perform trade study analysis, tolerance analysis, and various simulations to support design accuracy and efficiency.
- Develop and troubleshoot electrical hardware simulations of control system sensors and actuators as part of a Hardware-in-the-Loop real-time simulator.
- Gain experience with software controls for hardware integration.
- Work with requirements-based product decomposition, development, traceability, and assurance.
- Compile functional descriptions and design assurance testing results into reports sufficient for certifying authorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering with 2+ years of Electronic Hardware Circuit Design experience, OR
- Master’s degree in STEM, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering with 0+ years of Electronic Hardware Circuit Design experience, OR
- PhD in STEM, Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of circuit design and electronic integration experience.
- Experience with Root Cause Analysis and other problem-solving methodologies.
- Experience working with databus circuits such as CAN, ARINC429, MIL-STD-1553, SPI, I2C, and Ethernet.
- Strong software development skills in C/C++, Python, Atlassian toolsets, and build environments for Linux and Windows OS.
- Experience with network analyzers, oscilloscopes, meters, probes, and similar lab equipment.
- Experience with Thevenin equivalent circuit design, grounding isolation and shielding schemes, filtering, protection, and EMI reduction techniques.
- Experience with onsite integration of cabinet-mounted electronic test equipment at external customer sites.
- Ability to analyze and translate high-level requirements into a validated design for electrical components.
- Ability to present technical data to senior engineers and management.

Pay
$98,566 - $160,169 annually.
Schedule
Full-time, 5 days onsite in West Lafayette, IN.
