Position Number: 2.2.3 | Functional Area: Electronics Maintenance, Repair, and Technical Support

About the role

The Senior Electronic Technician performs complex electronic maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, repair, testing, and operational assessments of Force Protection equipment and associated electronic components. This position requires extensive knowledge of digital and analog circuitry, electronic equipment principles, component-level repair techniques, and established maintenance procedures. The Senior Electronic Technician is responsible for restoring equipment to operational condition, determining the serviceability of electronic components, managing bench stock inventory, and providing technical recommendations to support system reliability, configuration management, and lifecycle logistics. The position also supports engineering and program management personnel through technical evaluations, documentation reviews, and recommendations for equipment improvements, obsolescence mitigation, and sustainment planning.

Responsibilities

  • Electronics Troubleshooting and Component-Level Repair: Perform complex troubleshooting, diagnostics, and component-level repair of Force Protection equipment and associated electronic assemblies. Apply comprehensive knowledge of digital and analog circuitry, electronic components, test equipment, and diagnostic techniques to identify equipment malfunctions and determine appropriate corrective actions. Conduct component-level repairs in accordance with applicable technical orders, maintenance procedures, engineering specifications, and quality standards. Perform functional testing, bench testing, and operational assessments to verify equipment performance and ensure repaired components meet established serviceability requirements. Make technical condemnation determinations for unserviceable equipment, as required, in accordance with applicable maintenance procedures and authorization requirements. Document repair activities, diagnostic findings, component replacements, test results, and equipment serviceability determinations.
  • Bench Stock and Repair Material Management: Manage bench stock inventory for electronic components, replacement parts, consumables, and other materials required to support component-level repairs. Monitor inventory levels, identify material shortages, and recommend replenishment actions to maintain repair readiness and minimize equipment downtime. Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure bench stock items are properly controlled, available, and suitable for their intended maintenance applications. Identify recurring component failures, parts availability concerns, and potential supply chain issues that may affect repair operations.
  • Engineering and Configuration Management Support: Provide technical input to configuration control documentation, as requested by system engineers, program managers (PMs), or other authorized personnel. Review engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation to identify discrepancies, recommend corrections, and support equipment configuration accuracy. Recommend revisions to engineering drawings and applicable field- or depot-level (Level 6) technical orders to improve technical accuracy, maintainability, and repair effectiveness. Provide technical recommendations regarding component and system changes affecting form, fit, and function. Support engineering evaluations and configuration management activities by providing findings derived from equipment troubleshooting, component testing, repair history, and operational assessments. Coordinate technical recommendations with the appropriate engineering, program management, and configuration control authorities.
  • Field and Depot-Level Technical Support: Travel to designated operational or maintenance sites, when directed, to provide technical assistance, troubleshoot complex equipment issues, and perform depot-level repairs. Provide specialized electronics maintenance support for equipment that cannot be repaired through routine organizational or intermediate-level maintenance activities. Conduct on-site technical assessments, identify equipment deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions to restore operational capability. Coordinate with government personnel, system engineers, program managers, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues and support equipment readiness.
  • Lifecycle Logistics and Sustainment Support: Provide lifecycle logistics recommendations to CCSD based on technical expertise, equipment performance data, maintenance history, and applicable technical research. Evaluate component availability, repairability, reliability, and obsolescence risks to support sustainment planning and logistics decisions. Recommend spare parts requirements, replacement strategies, and mitigation measures for obsolete or difficult-to-procure electronic components. Identify opportunities to improve equipment maintainability, reduce recurring failures, and extend the service life of supported systems. Provide technical input to support long-term sustainment strategies, parts forecasting, and lifecycle support planning.
  • Workload and Performance Requirements: Complete an estimated average of 20 equipment or component repairs per month, subject to equipment condition, repair complexity, parts availability, and workload requirements. Maintain accurate and complete maintenance records and technical documentation for all assigned repairs. Ensure completed repairs undergo appropriate functional testing and serviceability verification before equipment is returned to serviceable stock. Prioritize assigned work based on operational requirements, equipment readiness needs, and established maintenance priorities. Perform all duties in accordance with applicable safety requirements, quality assurance procedures, technical standards, and contractual requirements.
