About the role

As part of the Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (EI&C) Engineering team, you will work collaboratively with a cross-functional engineering team executing custom project designs, meeting customer expectations, quality, schedule, budget, goals, and ensuring project risks are mitigated. This role involves leading the EI&C design for a wide range of water technologies, including instrumentation, electrical, controls, and programming. You will support production facilities, participate in customer-facing factory acceptance tests, and assist through commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and comment on engineering documents, including P&IDs, GAs, process design guidelines, return of experience, and engineering best practices guides.
  • Interpret, comment on, and follow contract and customer specifications.
  • Perform required calculations and select appropriate instrumentation for water treatment facilities, including all supporting documentation (instrument lists, termination drawings, instrument datasheets) with operator and equipment safety in mind.
  • Design the complete detailed electrical design for water treatment facilities (single line diagrams, load lists, I/O lists, network architectures, panel design, and schematics) with operator and equipment safety in mind.
  • Design complete detailed process control documents (Control Philosophy, Control Logic & Sequence Charts) for plant operation on assigned projects.
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Commissioning Verification Tests (CVTs), and checkouts as required.
  • Engage in the development of automation deliverables including test plans, programs, and network design.
  • Manage budget, scope, schedule, and proactively report risks and opportunities to project teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or equivalent from an accredited University or College.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant or related experience in complex industrial control system design.
  • Valid passport and driver’s license.

Skills

  • Experience with design of complex low voltage industrial control systems in compliance with UL and CEC.
  • Experience with instrument selection and design calculations.
  • Experience with control documentation, automation hardware, and PLC/HMI programming.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including coordinating, reporting, documentation, and presentations).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of hydraulics, water chemistry, and fundamentals of fluid mechanics.
  • Knowledge of and/or demonstrated ability to learn equipment and processes related to Veolia products and systems.
  • Experience with control systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, HMI, and SCADA design and programming.
  • Basic technical knowledge in the field of industrial control systems.
  • Understanding of Low Voltage Power Distribution System design.
  • Professional Engineer or EIT designation.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $89,000 - 95,000 USD annually, based on the candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and internal peer equity.
