About the role

EPC Services Company is seeking a Senior Level - Electrical Field Test Engineer for their Phoenix, AZ office. This position involves extensive travel and requires a thorough understanding of electrical systems and test equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform medium and high voltage apparatus testing and functional verification of control, protection, and alarm circuits
  • Provide setting and testing protective relays and functional verification of control, protection, and alarm circuits
  • Read and interpret technical documentation and users' manuals
  • Understand and apply IEEE standards and ANSI/IEEE system device function numbers
  • Comply with NETA Acceptance Testing Specification (ATS) and NETA Maintenance Testing Specification (MTS)
  • Have a thorough understanding of substation physical drawings, equipment wiring diagrams, and substation control schematics
  • Demonstrate knowledge of substation protection philosophy, feeder protection, breaker failure protection, bus protection, power transformer protection, cap bank protection, distance protection

Requirements

  • BSEE, BSME, or BSEEET degree with a minimum of 5 years' experience
  • Able to obtain NICET Level III certification
  • Strong understanding of safe work practices
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with test equipment
  • Ability to drive and be insured to drive company vehicles

Qualifications

  • Thorough understanding of Doble, Fluke, and other test equipment operation
  • Knowledge of substation physical drawings, equipment wiring diagrams, and substation control schematics
  • Experience with substation protection philosophy, feeder protection, breaker failure protection, bus protection, power transformer protection, cap bank protection, distance protection

  • Proficiency with test equipment
