Senior Electrical Estimator / Quantity Surveyor (Remote)

About the role
Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join our consultancy team supporting the delivery of a major semiconductor manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will independently prepare and present electrical cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and provide commercial management for complex Electrical Building Services and Process Utility installations.
Responsibilities
- Advise clients on strategies, manage prequalification of vendors, assess proposals, bids, change orders, and bid levelling documents, and make final recommendations.
- Attend and chair bid interviews, and manage the appointment process.
- Independently evaluate contractor and subcontractor tenders and prepare commercial recommendations.
- Review, validate, and negotiate variations, change orders, and compensation events.
- Provide side-by-side cost comparisons.
- Perform high-level review of change orders, validating quantities, rates, and scopes of work aligned with industry practices and contract documents.
- Understand and prepare Class 2 estimates (preferred) and self-perform Class 3 estimates on select submissions as warranted.
- Manage, review, and present estimates of complicated change orders prepared by the estimating department.
- Benchmark performance against other successful commissions.
- Assist with change management in a fast-track design and construction environment.
- Perform duties using Bid Analysis Sheets, Change Control Forms, Cost Estimating Software, and Take-off Software.
- Adhere to SOX control responsibilities where applicable.
- Provide commercial management support for specialist electrical systems.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a Quantity Surveying and/or estimating role in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts.
- RICS accreditation or working towards it is valuable.
- Experience supporting cost management on medium or large-sized construction projects; construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred.
- Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
- Strong communication skills.
- Market sector experience in Industrial Technology, Semiconductor (a plus), or Data Center (a plus).
- Project/program size experience: +$500M (+$2B preferred).
- System familiarity with medium/low voltage, campus power distribution, and life safety.
- Proficiency in MS Suite, Bluebeam, digital cost management tools, and/or estimating software.
- BIM-based quantity extraction (a plus).
- Knowledge of semiconductor facility infrastructure and construction methodologies (a plus).
- Familiarity with NECA and RS Means (a plus).
Pay
The salary range for this full-time role is $140K - $155K per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent base salary only. Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications.
