Position Overview
Sought is an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator with a robust background in estimating complex electrical construction projects across commercial, industrial, healthcare, institutional, data center, and similar markets. This role involves developing accurate cost estimates, evaluating project risks, supporting preconstruction efforts, and collaborating with operations teams to secure profitable projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Review construction drawings, specifications, bid packages, and contract documents.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for electrical systems, including:
- Power distribution
- Lighting
- Fire alarm
- Low-voltage systems
- Building controls
- Site electrical work
- Prepare complete labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and vendor cost estimates.
- Solicit, review, and analyze supplier and subcontractor pricing.
- Identify scope gaps, project risks, constructability concerns, and value engineering opportunities.
- Develop conceptual, budgetary, negotiated, and competitive bid estimates.
- Participate in bid strategy meetings and estimate reviews with leadership.
- Collaborate with project managers, operations, and field teams throughout the preconstruction process and project handoff.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Support negotiated project pursuits and business development efforts.
- Mentor junior estimators and assist with continuous improvement of estimating processes.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of electrical estimating experience.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical construction practices.
- Ability to interpret complex construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Experience using estimating software such as Accubid, Bluebeam, Trimble, or similar platforms.
- Thorough understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable industry standards.
- Experience estimating projects ranging from approximately $1M to $50M+.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous field experience in electrical construction.
- Experience with design-build and design-assist delivery methods.
- Background estimating projects within healthcare, hospitality, aerospace, commercial, industrial, or similar sectors.
