About the role
This role supports new facilities, expansions, infrastructure upgrades, and equipment line projects across Corning, with relocation assistance provided. Travel is expected to average approximately 50% annually, with actual travel requirements fluctuating based on project scope and phase.
Responsibilities
- Support the design and implementation of electrical power systems for facility expansions, equipment installations, infrastructure upgrades, and greenfield projects
- Lead or support electrical engineering work across project phases including design review, fabrication, integration, testing, installation, commissioning, and turnover
- Support electrical engineering work for both new capital projects and technical problem-solving in existing manufacturing operations
- Provide technical guidance on medium- and low-voltage power systems, including substations, transformers, switchgear, UPS, ATS, and related infrastructure
- Conduct or review short circuit calculations, protection and coordination studies, arc flash studies, and system reliability analyses
- Conduct and support failure analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause investigation for electrical equipment and power system issues
- Scope electrical power projects, define technical requirements, and develop cost models, resource plans, timelines, and project metrics
- Work closely with internal engineering teams, project stakeholders, consultants, and vendors to support effective technical decisions and project execution
- Help develop and maintain corporate standards for facility electrical power distribution systems
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years of relevant experience in electrical power engineering
- Experience designing, analyzing, and supporting industrial electrical power systems and equipment such as substations, transformers, switchgear, UPS, ATS, industrial control panels, or industrial machinery
- Knowledge of medium- and low-voltage facility electrical power systems, power system control design, and power system analysis, including experience with solid-state components such as SCRs and IGBTs
- Experience conducting short circuit calculations, protection and coordination studies, arc flash studies, and system reliability calculations
- Experience leading or supporting failure analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause investigation for electrical equipment and power system issues
- Knowledge of electrical safety requirements and practices, including OSHA and NFPA standards and procedures for establishing electrically safe work conditions
- Experience scoping and defining projects and supporting execution through planning, commissioning, and turnover
- Ability to travel significantly, primarily within the U.S., with occasional international travel as needed
Skills
- Professional Engineer license
- Experience with factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing for electrical equipment or power system installations
- Knowledge of power system reliability in combination with automation, maintenance programs, and operations
- Working knowledge of applicable standards such as NFPA 70B, NFPA 79, IEC 60204-1, GB 5226.1, IEEE 493, NETA ATS, and NETA MTS
- Experience mentoring junior engineers, providing technical guidance, or supervising others in an electrical power engineering environment
Pay
The range for this position is $116,047.00 - $159,565.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
