About the role

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Systems to join our growing team. This is a high-impact technical leadership role for an experienced engineer who thrives on solving complex electrical design challenges and leading projects from concept through execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead moderate to large-scale electrical engineering projects from concept through delivery
  • Serve as a technical lead and make sound decisions on complex engineering issues
  • Develop and oversee: Power system designs, Controls drawings, Engineering calculations, Technical reports and Project documentation
  • Design electrical service interconnects in coordination with local utility providers
  • Prepare specifications for the procurement, installation, and testing of electrical equipment
  • Perform and/or lead: Electrical system studies, detailed design work, design reviews, field investigations and technical reporting
  • Use engineering software such as SKM or ETAP for system modeling and analysis
  • Cook up closely with project managers, clients, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders
  • Identify project risks, scope changes, and technical challenges early and proactively
  • Contribute to proposal development, cost estimating, and business development efforts
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Proven experience in a technical leadership role
  • Direct experience supporting industrial facilities
  • Strong working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEEE, API and AGA recommended practices
  • Technical Experience: Strong experience in the design and analysis of: High, medium, and low voltage power systems, Protective relay schemes, Arc flash hazard analysis, Switchgear, Motor control centers (MCCs), Drives, Service entrance systems, Emergency power systems, Power distribution equipment, Electrical equipment upgrades

Preferred Experience

  • Substation design
  • Relay programming and startup
  • Field support during construction
