Position Summary

Clark Nexsen, a JMT Company, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a dynamic, collaborative team focused on delivering exceptional service to clients while making a meaningful impact on communities and the world through projects.

General Responsibilities

  • Performing all aspects of electrical engineering design (specifically power distribution)
  • Preparing and validating proposed scope of work for building design electrical engineering services
  • Overseeing and coordinating electrical engineering projects and the electrical engineering portion of multi-discipline projects
  • Coordinating, supervising, and communicating all aspects of electrical design within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Directing, supervising, training, and ensuring quality control of junior electrical engineers, EIT’s, and designers
  • Ensuring staff compliance with quality control policies and procedures and providing electrical engineering QC reviews for other engineers and designers
  • Preparation and supervision of accurate and complete electrical project programming, schematic designs, design development designs, and construction documents
  • Supporting the bidding process by preparing addenda, amendments, and responding to RFI’s
  • Providing construction phase services including representing the firm on-site, answering RFI’s, reviewing shop drawings and preparing record drawings
  • Collaborating with Project Managers, Design Managers, Managing Principals, Department Directors, Department Heads, and senior management
  • Mentoring and monitoring the professional development of junior electrical engineering staff
  • Presenting projects to clients, contractors, project team members, AHJs, and the public
  • Supporting company marketing and business development activities
  • Supporting the advancement of the engineering profession

Required Experience

  • Graduate of an ABET-accredited 4 or 5-year engineering program in Electrical Engineering (Building design or power distribution focus), Electrical Engineering Technology (Building design or power distribution focus), Architectural Engineering (Electrical Engineering focus), or Architectural Engineering Technology (Electrical Engineering focus)
  • 10+ years or more of significant design and practice experience in a leadership role with a Electrical Engineering firm or a multi-discipline Architectural & Engineering firm
  • Must be a fully licensed Professional Engineer in at least one US state, preferably in the local jurisdiction

Additional Certifications

  • CDT, CCS, or CCCA certifications are encouraged
  • Active participation in IEEE, IES, or other related professional organizations
  • Working familiarity with design and production software
  • Strong experience in the design of building power distribution, lighting, communications, and security systems
  • Experience as a lead designer or Electrical Engineer in federal, state, municipal, healthcare, commercial, higher education, or similar projects
  • Experience in Design/Build and CM at Risk project delivery methods

Working Conditions

JMT offers a hybrid work schedule. The selected candidate is expected to work in a JMT office location at least three days per week or as needed to perform assigned duties. While most of our work is desk-based, there may be times when standing, walking, bending, and lifting of minimal weight are required. Our office environment is comfortable, has adequate lighting and temperature, and is free from noise, dust, and other hazards.
