Senior Electrical Engineer (Maritime)
About the role
Odin Dynamics is a defense technology company founded in 2025, specializing in autonomous underwater vehicles. We are seeking multiple Senior Electrical Engineers to serve as Responsible Engineers for critical electrical subsystems across our platform. Each engineer will take primary technical ownership of one of three areas:
High-speed digital electronics and embedded compute hardware
Motor-control and drive electronics
Battery, power electronics, and power-distribution hardware
We are looking for engineers with deep expertise in at least one area who are also comfortable working across electrical architecture, schematic design, PCB layout, embedded systems, power electronics, manufacturing, testing, and the broader engineering domain.
Responsibilities
Serve as the Responsible Engineer for a major electrical subsystem. Develop greenfield electrical hardware from initial requirements and architecture through field-tested, production-ready implementation. Own schematic design, PCB layout, component selection, design reviews, analysis, bring-up, validation, production support, failure analysis, and continued improvement after deployment.
This is a hands-on individual-contributor position. You will be expected to design real hardware, make technical decisions, mentor other engineers, and remain accountable for the performance and reliability of your subsystem.
Requirements
Deep practical expertise in one or more of:
High-speed digital electronics
Motor-control or drive electronics
Battery, power electronics, or power-distribution hardware
Sufficient familiarity with adjacent electrical and embedded systems to collaborate across subsystem boundaries. Strong experience designing, reviewing, and bringing up complex PCBs within your primary technical specialization. Strong schematic design and PCB layout experience. Experience with multilayer boards, high-speed digital design, controlled impedance, mixed-signal design, high-current power, high-voltage or power-constrained systems, dense embedded compute boards, and ruggedized electronics.
Qualifications
Experience with:
Embedded compute hardware, processor carrier boards, microcontroller boards, power sequencing, clocking, resets, and boot configuration
Motor-control electronics, drive hardware, gate drivers, inverter power stages, current sensing, protection circuits, and thermal management
Battery-management hardware, cell monitoring, cell balancing, protection circuits, power switching, sequencing, diagnostics, and fault-state design
Power electronics, power distribution, high-current layout, grounding, isolation, switching converters, and protection design
Working with PCB fabrication, assembly, component sourcing, manufacturing engineering, and supply chain teams to move hardware from prototype to production
Skills
Demonstrated ability to work from first principles, make progress with incomplete information, and rapidly iterate between design, implementation, testing, and refinement. Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while collaborating closely across engineering disciplines. Willingness to support field testing and sea trials when required.
Benefits
U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. Compensation range: $160K - $200K. Odin Dynamics is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.
