Senior Electrical Engineer in San Diego, CA
About the role
The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the electrical discipline within the office, mentor a high-performing engineering team, and ensure technical excellence and project success.
Responsibilities
- Support and provide leadership for the electrical discipline within the office.
- Mentor and develop department staff, fostering career growth through structured development plans.
- Be a local supervisor to staff.
- Ensure adherence to firm QA/QC protocols and maintain technical excellence.
- Collaborate with Project Managers on budgeting, scheduling, and staff management.
- Oversee, plan, and design electrical systems for all types of projects including but not limited to: healthcare, education, laboratories, institutional high-rise and commercial buildings.
- Act as the Engineer of Record, leading technical communication with clients.
- Work with internal and external team members including architects, consultants, code officials and contractors.
- Participate in recruitment and retention efforts, ensuring a strong engineering team.
- Support and refine Glumac’s technical standards, implementing best practices in the local office.
- Provide feedback on technical standards implementation and suggest improvements.
- Track training opportunities and recommend professional development initiatives.
- Ability to write proposals for new projects.
- Participate in activities and organizations related to our industry, develop peer relationships, technical growth and business contacts.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience as an MEP Engineer in infrastructure and/or building systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Current Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.
- Working experience with building and electrical codes.
- Experience managing staff as a direct supervisor.
- Revit experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong background in sustainable design is highly desirable.
- LEED AP BD+C accreditation.
- WELL certification.
Benefits
The position offers a hybrid work environment with a requirement of two in-office days per week in our Los Angeles, CA office. Salary range: $150,000 - $200,000 (depending on experience).
