Senior Electrical Engineer - Design Studies

About the role

ECI is seeking highly motivated Electrical Engineers with significant experience in performing EHV technical design studies. The ideal candidate should have deep knowledge and experience in various studies at the EHV level, including but not limited to:

  • Shunt Reactive Compensation and Voltage Control
  • Coupled Line Resonance Studies
  • Single Pole Automatic Reclosing
  • Series Capacitor Analysis
  • Line Switching Overvoltage Studies
  • Line or Sub MAD calculations
  • Coupling to Adjacent Circuits in ROW
  • Voltage/Current Unbalance/Transposition Studies
  • Transformer Energization TOV studies
  • EHV Capacitor Switching
  • Technoeconomic Conductor Selection Studies
  • EHV Power Cable Studies

Responsibilities

The engineer will join a team of experienced engineers and perform detailed EMT analysis for the study work as well as provide guidance to younger staff who this individual will train.

Requirements

  • MSEE (PhD is desirable)
  • 15+ years of experience performing most of the studies listed above
  • Expert user of PSCAD
  • (Knowledge of ATP and EMTP-RV a plus)
  • Expert user of positive sequence/phasor domain tools
  • A professional engineers license is preferred but not required

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with PSCAD
  • Knowledge of common loadflow tools, MathCad, Excel

Pay

Salary commensurate with experience and education. Compensation Range: $150,000 - $240,000 Annually

Schedule

Depending on experience, applicants may be qualified for a hybrid or remote work arrangement. Relocation to Madison, WI or Chesapeake, VA to work with the team is preferred.
