Senior Electrical Engineer - Data Center (Contract-to-Hire)

Job Description ***Contract role*** A top engineering, procurement and construction firm is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer for its data center practice in Bloomington (Minneapolis area), on a contract-to-hire basis. The role runs full time (40 hours/week) through an estimated April 2027 and can convert to a permanent position for the right candidate. Location: Onsite 5 days/week at the firm's Bloomington, MN office. The role is also open at the firm's other U.S. offices: Overland Park, KS; Ann Arbor, MI; Canonsburg, PA; Cary, NC; Dallas, TX; Darien, IL; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Orlando, FL; Phoenix, AZ; and Tualatin, OR. Responsibilities Lead detailed electrical design of large-scale (hyperscale) data center environments; may lead the design teamWork with engineering project teams and field personnel to deliver projects on scope, budget and scheduleAdvise on design risk factors for redundancy and resiliencyConduct field surveys and assess existing facilitiesPrepare and review technical drawings, models, engineering studies, reports and detailed calculationsMentor and supervise junior engineers and designersCoordinate directly with clients, which include many of the top companies in the data center industry Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program11+ years of related experienceRequired: prior experience on hyperscale data centers of at least 40 MWProficient in AutoCAD, Revit and BIM (BIM 360, Navisworks, Revit work sets and view templates a plus)PE license preferred (or actively pursuing)Understanding of hyperscale, edge and colocation design differences and data center tier ratings preferredStrong written and verbal communication skills for direct client interactionMust be able to work onsite 5 days/week at one of the listed offices Why Is This a Great Opportunity Hands-on design leadership on some of the largest data center programs in the U.S., with a top-tier engineering firm and a clear path to a permanent role.
