About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Philadelphia or Wayne, PA team. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed PE with a strong background in electrical power systems for complex commercial and institutional buildings who wants to combine technical engineering with project leadership and mentorship. The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead electrical design and documentation throughout all phases of projects, with a particular emphasis on building power systems. You will work collaboratively with architects, engineers, clients, and contractors while helping mentor and develop junior engineering staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering design for complex commercial and institutional building projects
  • Design and oversee building power distribution systems
  • Perform and review electrical load, power, and related engineering calculations
  • Establish project design criteria and perform applicable code research
  • Develop electrical plans, specifications, reports, and construction documents
  • Coordinate electrical systems with architectural, mechanical, plumbing, structural, and other disciplines
  • Provide technical leadership throughout design and construction
  • Manage electrical engineering assignments, project schedules, and budgets
  • Participate in multidisciplinary project meetings
  • Perform and supervise construction administration activities
  • Participate in QA/QC reviews and development of engineering standards
  • Manage and develop relationships with clients and contractors
  • Mentor and review the work of junior engineers and designers
  • Prepare proposals and participate in client presentations
  • Maintain current knowledge of electrical codes, technologies, equipment, and design practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related engineering discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience
  • Strong experience designing electrical systems for commercial and institutional buildings
  • Significant experience with building power distribution systems
  • Experience with complex projects such as healthcare/hospitals, higher education, science & technology, pharmaceutical/life sciences, laboratories, sports, or similar institutional facilities strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes and engineering practices
  • Experience performing electrical engineering calculations and equipment selections
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD; Revit experience strongly preferred
  • Experience leading projects and mentoring junior engineers/designers
  • Strong technical, project management, communication, and client-facing capabilities
  • Candidates whose experience is primarily limited to residential construction, transportation infrastructure, low-voltage systems, telecommunications, or lighting design without substantial building power experience are unlikely to align with the primary needs of this position

Pay

$110,000 - $160,000 per year
