Responsibilities
- Design electrical infrastructure for mission critical buildings and campuses including campus level medium voltage distribution;
- Highly redundant power systems including various redundancy topologies such as distributed and block redundant;
- On-site generation and UPS backup;
- Typical building systems such as small power, lighting, grounding, and fire alarm;
- Coordinate with all internal and external disciplines for required electrical power connections;
- Coordinate monitoring system interfaces for electrical equipment with controls and telecommunications engineers;
- Understand and be capable of defining key performance criteria of power monitoring systems (EPMS), including specifications, points lists, and typical network hierarchies;
- Review client standards, design criteria, applicable standards, and best practices in order to understand design requirements and apply them;
- Understand local and national construction codes and project specifications;
- Utilize Autodesk Revit to produce detailed design documents;
- Have experience with the use of Microsoft tools such as Word, Power Point, Excel, and Teams;
- Maintain excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Qualifications
- 4-year degree in electrical engineering or architectural engineering with an electrical focus preferred;
- 2-year degrees and EET degrees with work experience will be considered;
- Minimum 8 years of experience in facility electrical design, particularly using Autodesk Revit for drawing development;
- Experience in electrical design for larger industrial and commercial buildings is preferred, with experience in mission critical design a strong plus;
- Experience performing and reviewing power studies such as Neher-McGrath, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash is strongly preferred;
- Experience working across the entire construction process, from schematic design through construction administration, including review of submittals and shop drawings, and field work such as existing condition surveys, site observations, and punch lists;
- Experience leading electrical design teams and interfacing with clients is strongly preferred;
- Experience using construction management tools such as Procore and Autodesk Construction Cloud;
- Knowledge of controls and monitoring systems for mechanical and electrical systems is a plus;
- Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred; however unlicensed candidates with appropriate on-the-job experience are welcome to apply.
