About the Role
SAIC is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team of industry-leading innovators and technical experts. This role involves designing, analyzing, and managing complex electrical systems for a reconfigurable air defense project supporting defense, government, and commercial clients.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical components and systems, integrating software design with electrical components.
- Use design software such as SolidWorks, Altium Designer, or similar tools to perform calculations, simulations, and analysis for circuit design, power distribution, grounding, and load flow.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, program managers, and clients to develop integrated solutions that meet technical and programmatic requirements.
- Coordinate with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical designs into broader system architectures.
- Assist with managing engineering tasks across all phases of a project, from concept development and requirements definition to design, testing, and delivery.
- Conduct and participate in formal design reviews to verify compliance with specifications, regulations, and project objectives.
- Ensure designs meet safety, performance, and regulatory standards, including NEC, IEEE, MIL-STD, and other relevant codes.
- Develop testing plans and validate the performance of electrical systems per design specifications.
- Perform fault analysis and provide cost-effective solutions to technical challenges, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.
- Create detailed technical documentation, including drawings, schematics, test reports, and technical manuals.
- Generate progress reports, risk assessments, and presentations to communicate status and results to internal and external stakeholders.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, provide technical oversight, and foster professional growth.
- Lead technical discussions with clients and stakeholders, offering guidance and recommendations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and nine (9) years or more of experience; additional six (6) years’ experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
- 9+ years’ professional experience in electrical design, system integration, and testing, preferably in government, defense, or aerospace projects.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical power systems, circuit design, and signal systems.
- Familiarity with industry standards and codes, including NEC, NESC, IEEE, and MIL-STD.
- Experience with system integrative challenges for deploying electrical systems in environments with stringent requirements.
- Strong written and oral communication skills to collaborate effectively with coworkers, stakeholders, and external customers.
