Senior Electrical Engineer

Green card or US citizenship required. Position is located at the William J. Hughes Technical Center in Atlantic City, NJ.

About the Role

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the Technical Support Services Contract 5 (T5) to Parsons in April 2023. Parsons is the prime contractor for this $1.8+ billion contract, which has a 4-year base period with two 3-year options. The work supports the FAA’s Capital Investment Plan (CIP), NextGen Program, national security programs, and aviation safety. Responsibilities include site selection and engineering, construction, environmental and fire/life safety, equipment installation and testing, drafting, contract surveillance, and other technical services. Work is performed across the nation in each of the FAA’s nine regions, the Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and several U.S. territories. An average staff of 500, with a peak staff over 650, supports this contract.

Responsibilities

• Function as discipline Project Engineer on medium to large projects, assuming responsibility for the work of the group.
• Plan, direct, and supervise the work of a major engineering unit or project requiring large-scale expenditure of manpower and financial investment.
• Lead other Engineers and design personnel in technical excellence and growth in the Quality Improvement Process.
• Provide technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
• Ensure compliance of design with all applicable codes and regulations.
• Help determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.
• Design low voltage power distribution systems.
• Prepare single line diagrams and wiring diagrams under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Coordinate designs with other disciplines (e.g., civil, architectural, mechanical, structural).
• Adhere to Parsons policy for accurate project documentation for project files.
• Complete assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes, utilizing CAE/CAD as applicable.
• Prepare standard engineering computations, material quality takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
• Prepare detailed requisitions for low voltage equipment and materials.
• Size conduit, conductors, and overcurrent protection devices per the National Electric Code (NEC).
• Review small and portions of larger supplier drawing submittals and assist in performing technical bid analyses.
• Prepare and issue specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
• Provide input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
• Perform field surveys and collect required data as per project needs.
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college. (Third-party evaluation of ABET equivalency may be accepted.)
• 8+ years of electrical design-related experience in low voltage power distribution systems, data center design, power quality analysis, lighting systems, grounding, lightning protection, and Uninterruptible Power Sources (UPS).
• Potential to perform in a lead capacity, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Familiarity with industry practices and regulations, and thorough knowledge of current technology.
• Ability to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on projects.
• Must be able to pass a government background check.
• Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Ability to work well under pressure and within budgeted hours and schedule.
• Green card or US citizenship required.

Preferred Skills

• Previous experience in engineering consulting with federal agencies.
• Working knowledge of FAA standards and specifications.
• Familiarity with construction practices and safe work procedures.
• Ability to solve problems with persons inside and outside an organization to find mutually beneficial solutions.
• Previous experience with lightning and grounding protection.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam.
• Proficiency in SKM and the ability to perform short circuit, coordination, and arc flash analyses.

Pay

Salary Range: $88,400.00 - $154,700.00
