Merrick & Company is seeking a full-time Senior Electrical Engineer for our Energy, Manufacturing & Bioprocessing department. This position is available in our Greenwood Village, CO; Richmond, VA; Ellicott City, MD; Chattanooga, TN; or Tulsa, OK offices. This role supports several market sectors, including industrial food & beverage, refining, power, and advanced biofuels. The position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, and relocation will be considered.
About the Role
You may serve as project lead on major or multiple moderate-scope projects with complex features. This role involves developing electrical design documents, analyzing and approving the work of others, and monitoring team performance.
Responsibilities
- Conceptual and detailed design of low-voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding, motor control systems, PLC/PAC, HMIs, process equipment, and instrumentation.
- Interact with clients, customers, officials, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Lead project meetings and make presentations.
- Perform electrical calculations, including voltage drop, short circuit, coordination studies, arc flash, relay settings, conduit fill, lighting, and grounding.
- Develop specifications and datasheets for electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and MCCs.
- Travel to client project sites to support field walk-downs and as-built efforts.
- Monitor allocated resources to ensure work stays within project estimates.
- Collaborate with Design/Engineering Managers to meet project schedules and deliver complete documents.
Requirements
- Minimum of twelve (12) years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in power, energy, oil and gas, or other industrial process industries.
- Experience developing one-line drawings, control schematics, wiring diagrams, electrical equipment specifications, power plans, conduit plans, and cable schedules.
- Working knowledge of technical codes and standards: NEC, IEEE, NFPA, IEC, etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel & Word).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, REVIT, or other design software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college (required).
- Professional Engineer (PE) License (required).
- Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.
