Job Summary
General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is a leader in high-technology systems development, including remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless, and laser technologies. GA-EMS specializes in electromagnetic and electric power generation systems, providing solutions for defense, industrial, and commercial customers. We are seeking an Electrical Engineer for our CSS group in Herndon, VA.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and implements digital and analog hardware, including schematic design, board layout, and board functional test.
- Works on RF electronics and/or FPGA-firmware development.
- Formulates plans for engineering solutions, adhering to compliance, reporting, and safety standards.
- Ensures integration of engineering solutions within the broader engineering environment and completes necessary documentation, testing, maintenance, and updates.
- Determines technical objectives for solutions based on new developments in engineering technology.
- May lead projects and provide direction to less experienced professionals.
- Plans for future applications of solutions based on emerging engineering technology.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Works safely according to established procedures and practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer or Electrical Engineering or a related technical field from an accredited institution with relevant experience.
- Twelve or more years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, ten or more years with a master’s degree, or seven or more years with a PhD.
- Extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, with the ability to organize, plan, and coordinate workloads to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of interfacing with various departments, customers, and professionals.
- Experience with satellite programs, especially design, integration, and test of satellite buses, and familiarity with launch and flight operations.
- Comfortable designing, developing, and debugging small circuits, performing sensing, digital data manipulation, and electro-mechanical control.
- Proficiency in C programming language, experience with RF circuitry/principles, and experience with FPGA development.
- Experience with software development and the Linux operating system environment.
- Customer-focused, able to work independently or in teams, and adaptable to extended hours and travel.
- US Citizenship and ability to maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance required.
