Job Summary

Leland Saylor Associates is seeking a Chief Electrical Estimator to lead the estimating process for complex electrical projects. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in electrical estimating, preferably in a management role, and a deep understanding of electrical systems in various sectors.

About the Role

This position plays a crucial role in setting the foundation for accurate cost estimates and building client trust. The successful candidate will lead the electrical estimating team, mentor junior estimators, and provide training on electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full estimating process for complex electrical projects from pre-concept through final proposal.
  • Evaluate drawings, specifications, and scope to build complete, accurate cost estimates.
  • Partner with Project Managers, Engineers, and Preconstruction teams to align estimates with project goals.
  • Mentor and coach estimators, helping them grow technical expertise and confidence.
  • Build strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, ensuring the best pricing and insights for clients.
  • Work on electrical projects ranging from $5 million to $500 million.
  • Provide training to junior estimators for the electrical systems.

Requirements

  • A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 7-10 years of experience working with electrical systems in civic, commercial, or mission-critical construction.
  • Deep knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70/70E.
  • The ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, riser diagrams, panel schedules, and coordination studies.
  • Proficiency with QA tools such as Procore, BIM 360, Smartsheet, and CMMS.
  • Strong communication skills to lead issue resolution with contractors, engineers, and clients.

Qualifications

  • Experience with estimating software (Accubid, Trimble, Bluebeam, or similar).
  • The ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, and specifications.
