Senior Electrical Commissioning Consultant-Mission Critical Facilities

About the role

The commissioning group focuses on communication, documentation, and verification across all phases of projects. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in the data center industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in all phases of commissioning projects, including planning, scheduling, and coordination of work.
  • Perform engineering design reviews, prepare commissioning scripts and reports, and manage the training of on-site staff.
  • Develop equipment pre-start-up and start-up procedures; create standard operating procedures (SOPs) and methods of procedures (MOPs); and prepare comprehensive commissioning documentation.
  • Develop and oversee commissioning logs, equipment checklists, and other tools to track commissioning projects.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and recommendations for optimizing building operations, functional checklists, lists of deficiencies, equipment operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning.
  • Lead and participate in commissioning activity meetings, interface with construction contractors, vendors, and testing technicians, and lead and conduct tests and compile all testing procedure results.
  • Lead, plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of commissioning services for both new and existing buildings.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High competency in technical writing, systems development, and utilization.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD.
  • Extensive knowledge of MEP systems and controls design, installation, and operation.
  • Proven documentation and report writing skills.
  • 75% or more domestic travel and may require international travel.
  • Proven track record of performing commissioning planning, functional testing, building performance investigation, including re-commissioning, retro-commissioning, and/or preventative maintenance and building system troubleshooting experience for new and existing buildings.
  • Licensed PE in Electrical Discipline (preferred).
  • LEED AP accreditation (preferred).
  • CXA, AABC, ACG certification (desired).

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in an engineering service delivery organization/consulting/design environment with proven work-related experience in MEP systems.
  • Data Center/Mission Critical Experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience working on a mission critical facility construction site (preferred).
  • Technical/Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or accredited college/university (required).

Skills

  • Strong presentation and communication skills with ability to present complex technical information to a wide audience, including contractors, architects, and engineers, and others with varying degrees of technical knowledge.
