Senior EHS Specialist
We are looking for a Senior EHS Specialist to join our Care Chemicals team in Spartanburg, SC. About the role
Reporting to the EHS Director of Care Chemicals Americas, you will support, facilitate, and implement EHS programs designed to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements through a shared business resource concept. This position focuses ~75% on Environmental Compliance Program Management and ~25% on Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene Support.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and regulatory expertise to ensure EHS compliance at the assigned site, with an emphasis on environmental compliance management.
- Manage federal, state, and local environmental compliance programs, including air, waste, and water programs (e.g., LDAR, Title V, PSM/RMP, RCRA, EPCRA, SPCC).
- Serve as the technical expert on environmental regulatory compliance matters for EPA, SCDES, and applicable industry standards.
- Interface with employees, regulatory agencies, and third parties on compliance and enforcement issues.
- Communicate and facilitate the sharing of programs, procedures, and tools that promote a safe and healthy working environment.
- Provide strategic leadership while working with site management, employees, and the EHS Community on identified EHS issues, recommendations, and opportunities to drive continuous improvement of EHS programs and culture.
- Support implementation of the Responsible Care® Management System.
- Assist with the implementation of corporate EHS policies and procedures (Safe Work Permits, Job Safety Analysis, Management of Change, Incident/Accident investigation, HAZCOM, Training, Pre-startup safety reviews, etc.).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Environmental discipline, or a related field.
- 5–10 years of experience implementing EHS programs in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Health and Safety management and Responsible Care® management systems.
- Professional certification(s) in safety, health, or environmental topics (preferred).
