Senior Economic Consultant
Indecon is seeking candidates with 4+ years’ experience in economics, social research, consultancy, or public policy. We are particularly interested in individuals with expertise in quantitative analysis, econometrics, data analysis, Excel modelling, impact evaluation, cost-benefit and cost-effectiveness analyses, regulation, competition, and forecasting.
About the role
The successful candidates will serve as Senior Economic Consultants, working effectively with colleagues and clients to apply economic knowledge to real-world problems. This role involves managing and guiding junior staff, contributing to public policy and business decisions in Ireland, the EU, and internationally. Indecon’s projects span policy evaluation, capital appraisal, impact evaluation, commercial advisory, labour market analysis, health economics, environmental economics, forecasting, regulatory economics, energy economics, competition economics, and more.
Responsibilities
- Undertake economic research and analysis using public and client-confidential data.
- Perform econometric and statistical modelling, including complex Excel modelling.
- Design and manage surveys, analyzing quantitative data with statistical techniques.
- Provide economic and statistical advice to governments, enterprises, and other clients.
- Produce research reports and presentations based on economic analysis.
- Participate in stakeholder engagement processes.
- Manage junior staff in delivering project objectives.
- Engage with clients and work as part of wider teams on complex research projects.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a master’s or PhD in economics, public policy, social research, business, finance, or a related discipline from a leading university, with an outstanding academic record. A minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience in economics or research within the private, consulting, or public sectors is required.
Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex economic concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven experience managing junior staff and delivering project outcomes.
- Client and stakeholder engagement experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Data analysis and manipulation skills, ideally using STATA and/or R.
- Time management across multiple project commitments.
- Experience with AI tools is an asset.
