About the Role

You can make a difference in patients' lives as a Senior Environmental Services team member with Corewell Health. In this role, your primary focus is maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our patients and staff. You'll be responsible for removing medical waste, trash, and linen, and performing maintenance on hard floors, carpets, and upholstery. You'll also have the opportunity to train new and existing staff on our department's cleaning procedures and standards. Communication and collaboration with other team members are essential to ensure continuity of service and help foster a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting, and stocking of patient rooms, offices, and ancillary areas according to established procedures.
  • Responsible for the removal and disposal of linens and waste streams.
  • Performs interim and restorative maintenance on hard floors, carpets, and upholstery according to procedures.
  • 6li>Assembles, maintains, and stores equipment/supplies necessary to complete tasks according to department standards.
  • Provides training and ongoing instruction to new and existing Environmental Services staff on department cleaning procedures, expectations, and all departmental quality, safety, and customer service standards.
  • Assigns, coordinates, and inspects employee work assignments, and completes quality assurance inspections.
  • Communicates and collaborates with other team members and across departments to ensure continuity and coordination of services.
  • May work at various department sites for coverage and due to business need.
  • Picks up and delivers materials, supplies, and other items, ensuring vehicles are ready for the next route by filling up the gas tank, returning keys and equipment, and keeping vehicles clean and organized.
  • Advises supervisor of any vehicle repairs needed and ensures timely, safe, and accurate delivery, abiding by all traffic laws while representing Corewell Health professionally.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 6 months of relevant experience in public service, customer service, hotel, hospital, environmental services, or janitorial work
  • Must be 20 years of age
  • Excellent driving record
  • Valid Driver's License - State of Michigan

Preferred

  • Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) certification from the Association for the Healthcare Environment (AHE)
  • 6 months of leadership experience

Schedule

Full Time, 40 hours a week. Monday to Friday, 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. No weekends.
