Senior Drafter

What you'll do:

• Create outstanding drawings to produce key parts for manufacturing and certification.
• Keep the CAD structure clean with assemblies that make logical sense and configurations that allow for part variations.
• Create detailed 2D drawings for complex mechanisms components and assemblies including precision gears, bearings, lead screws, braking systems, and encoders, avionics boxes.
• Perform stack-up analysis and establish good part alignment using fit classes.
• Read manufacturers' data sheets to size appropriate housings.
• Deploy knowledge of fabrication techniques to minimize time with vendors and reduce overall cost.

What you need:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience as a drafter in aerospace or automotive fields.
• CAD Mastery: Advanced design experience in SolidWorks including complex assemblies and configuration management on a PDM system.
• ASME Y14 and GD&T master: Knowledge of ASME Y14 and deployment of that knowledge on the drawings.
• Team mindset: Help the team achieve their goals by owning the drawing process and finding ways to circumvent roadblocks.

Nice to have:

• Flying experience: Have created drawings used for a flight certification program (FAA or MIL).
• Gearbox specialization: Detailed knowledge of creating drawings for gears, screws, precision parts.
