About the role
Join Smithfield Foods as the Senior Director, EHS Regulatory where you will play a role in shaping our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulatory compliance and sustainability initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain compliance with applicable federal and state environmental, health and safety regulations as well as Smithfield Injury Prevention System (SIPS), PSM, ISO, EMS, and other corporate requirements.
- Lead correspondence with regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, Chemical Safety) and direct the EHS team on safety and environmental regulatory compliance issues.
- Manage environmental permit compliance documentation and applications to agencies in a timely manner.
- Create a uniform application of the company’s EHS system, promote best practices, ensure compliance with applicable regulatory agencies, and evaluate risk related to implementing programs to prevent injuries.
- Assist in writing, reviewing, and revising key documents such as Risk Management plans, Emergency Response Plans, and Environmental Permit tracking and compliance plans.
- Affirm operational controls for effective performance in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements.
- Develop and implement corporate policy, programs, systems, and training materials.
- Conduct annual EMS internal audits and review/assist with corrective action and objectives.
- Drive a positive employee experience through leadership by way of employee development and coaching.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Environmental Engineering or other related field and 12+ years' relevant experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development is required.
- Energized by collaboration through travel to other locations 50% of the time depending on the initiative being executed.

Pay
The expected pay range for this position is $180,000 - $222,500 annually.
