Senior Director - Real World Data Informatics and Science
About the Role
The Clinical, Medical and Regulatory (CMR) department at Novo Nordisk is one of the most diverse and collaborative groups within the organization. From healthcare provider interactions and developing and implementing regulatory strategies with the FDA to providing medical education and collecting data to support efficacy and new product development, CMR is involved. The Senior Director, Real World Data, Informatics and Science (RWDIS) leads the functions in the Clinical Data Science and Evidence (CDSE) department focused on real world data strategy, clinical informatics, and real world science to support local market needs. This individual will anticipate changes in the organization and drive the development of RWDIS to meet evolving needs, serving as a leader within Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI), the broader Novo Nordisk (NN) organization, and the industry.
Responsibilities
- Lead the RWDIS functions within CDSE to support local market needs, anticipating organizational changes and driving development in real world data strategy, clinical informatics, and real world science.
- Serve as a strategic leader within NNI, NN, and the industry by sharing best practices, advising other functions, and driving broader adoption of RWDIS activities.
- Drive personal and team development in real world data strategy, clinical informatics, real world science, leadership, and team management skills.
- Attend relevant scientific meetings, conferences, and courses.
- Own and oversee the CMR Real World Data Strategy, Clinical Informatics Strategy, and Real World Science Strategy.
- Provide strategic guidance for all real world data, clinical informatics, and real world science activities in NNI, ensuring alignment with enterprise, portfolio, product, and global strategies.
- Promote understanding and appropriate use of real world data, clinical informatics, and real world science within the organization while ensuring compliant processes.
- Participate as a strategic member of the CDSE senior leadership team and oversee NNI due diligence and other senior-level oversight activities.
- Foster relationships with U.S. and global Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and thought leaders, representing Novo Nordisk in external professional societies, pharma associations, seminars, and conventions.
- Ensure reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDPs) with annual goals aligned to business priorities, including learning and aspiration plans.
- Manage the application and communication of Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and the Novo Nordisk Way.
Requirements
- PhD or Master’s degree in a quantitative health-related field (e.g., Health Economics, Outcomes Research, Clinical Epidemiology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Marketing, or similar).
- 15+ years of industry, research, and/or analytics experience.
- 5+ years of experience in at least one relevant area of Real World Evidence (RWE), Real World Data (RWD), analytics, and/or modeling.
- 3+ years of people management and team leadership responsibilities in a data and analytics capacity.
- Previous experience leading a complex matrix organization; management of managers is a plus.
- Pharmaceutical research and/or insights experience, including expertise in observational studies, statistical research methodology, data, and analytics.
- Solid understanding of the U.S. healthcare system, as well as market- and patient-access dynamics.
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, relationship-building, and communication skills.
- Superior strategic and tactical planning experience within a pharmaceutical or technology environment.
- Must maintain necessary credentials and remain in good standing within the medical/scientific community (if applicable).
Schedule
10-20% overnight travel required.
Pay
The base compensation range for this position is $229,200 to $401,100. Base compensation is determined based on several factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.
