About the role
The Senior Director, Rare Endocrinology and Rare Tumors (RERT), Patient Services (PS) leads the Patient Services function for the RERT Business Unit. This role drives the development and implementation of the PS strategy for four indications: Hypophosphatasia (HPP), Lysosomal Acid Lipase Deficiency (LAL-D), Neurofibromatosis Type 1 plus Plexiform Neurofibromas (NF1 PN), and potential future indications and assets. The position works closely with RERT Business Unit leadership to set PS strategy, manage business performance, identify and manage relationships with third parties (e.g., specialty pharmacies), and improve performance to better serve patients.
This role oversees the execution of Patient Services strategy via field-based teams, including the Case Management team, Patient Education Manager team, and Field Reimbursement Team. Success requires influencing without authority, negotiating, and collaborating cross-functionally with teams such as marketing, market access, commercial operations, compliance, IT, legal, regulatory, training, medical, and field leadership. The leader ensures tight alignment with business strategy to optimize opportunities to serve and educate patients compliantly.
Responsibilities
- Lead and evolve the US Patient Services best-in-class strategy and operating model for the US RERT business unit.
- Oversee the design of the Patient Services model for new launches and evolve existing models using AI and technology to scale and enhance the patient experience.
- Manage third-party vendor relationships to ensure achievement of KPIs, business objectives, compliance, and quality.
- Partner with Marketing, Market Access, Patient Advocacy, Legal, Compliance, Quality, Drug Safety, Commercial Operations, IT, Training, third parties, and vendors to ensure patient support programs and messaging meet patient needs.
- Recommend program design innovations and lead implementation plans for senior leadership, including rationale for design selection and financial impact.
- Work cross-functionally to design the Patient Services model for future launches.
- Collaborate with the Patient Services Leadership Team to drive department-wide optimization.
- Lead development of US strategic planning (3-year/1-year) for RERT PS, including tactical plans and budget allocation.
- Work with Market Access, Commercial Operations, and IT to ensure effective data flow with distribution partners for business management.
- Partner with commercial insights to conduct innovative research/analytics identifying key business dynamics, behavioral barriers, segmentation, and barriers to initiation and adherence.
- Establish processes for collecting and sharing best practices.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or business field.
- 15+ years of related experience in the biotechnology industry.
- Significant commercial experience, with demonstrated success in patient services leadership positions preferred.
- Ability to adapt in a rapidly evolving environment with changing technology; proactive problem-solving and learning mindset with strong personal accountability.
- Proven, consistent history of high performance regardless of position or company.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships.
- Understanding of compliance regulations and guidance governing copay and patient assistance programs, and commercial and government payer benefit interpretation.
- Launch experience and/or experience in high-growth areas.
- High learning agility and prior experience managing people.
- High level of interpersonal skills and adeptness in both verbal and written communication.

Preferred Qualifications
- MBA preferred.
- Broad experience in patient services, field leadership, analytics, vendor management, marketing, market research, sales, and/or medical affairs.
- Rare disease/high-value biologics experience.
