Senior Director, Operational Technology Practice Lead

About the role
TRC is seeking a Senior Director, Operational Technology Practice Lead, to join our Intelligent Grid Solutions practice. This role will help our clients transform their businesses through decentralized energy, enhanced asset management, new software technologies, and digital transformation. The position will be essential in growing the Intelligent Grid organization through business development, project execution, and critical hiring.
Responsibilities
- Revenue Generation
- Client Relations and Portfolio Account Management: Build and maintain long-term partner relationships with customers.
- Sales and Business Development: Identify, qualify, track, and report on new business opportunities and drive them through contract closing.
- Financial & Business Accountability: Meet sales, revenue, and profit objectives at the project, account, and regional (or portfolio) level.
- Growth Strategy: Contribute to the development and operationalization of growth strategy plans for TRC Digital Solutions (organic or otherwise).
- Internal Partner Relations: Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key account leadership and delivery leadership across TRC.
- Delivery Oversight and Quality Assurance: Provide oversight for contract management, cost management, and project management to ensure quality delivery of services and solutions.
- Practice Development
- Develop and operationalize the strategic plan for the Operational Technology practice area.
- Develop and execute a staffing and recruiting plan for the practice area.
- Create industry-relevant offerings, sales collateral, and sales strategies.
- Identify and pursue target accounts or opportunities for those offerings.
- Provide oversight for proposal development and RFP responses.
- Offer leadership development, coaching, and mentoring to senior consulting resources in the practice area.
- Represent TRC Digital Solutions at relevant industry events and conferences.
- Contribute to the development and execution of strategic marketing plans.
- Develop, contribute to, or sponsor thought leadership publications and presentations for social media, industry news outlets, conferences, or related events.
- Provide oversight for the development of delivery methodologies.
- External Partner Management
- Provide leadership for all interactions with strategic partnerships and alliances with software companies and other solution providers supporting Operational Technology.
- Take ownership of contractual, technical, and sales relationships.
- Provide oversight for joint proposal development, RFP responses, joint go-to-market plans, joint marketing events, and joint thought leadership development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Management, a related field, or equivalent working experience.
- Extensive experience (typically 15+ years) in technical organizations leading a variety of technical projects, with a significant portion in leadership or management roles.
- Proven track record of strategic planning and aligning technical initiatives with business objectives.
- Financial acumen and experience in budget management.
- Strong technical skills in relevant programming languages, frameworks, and development tools.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated success in managing and delivering large-scale technical projects and programs.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to make decisions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying at the forefront of industry trends.
- Ability to multi-task across projects, business development, and team strategy.
- A demonstrated desire and work ethic to build a practice from the ground up in the dynamic and challenging environment of utilities.
- Ability to travel up to 30% is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience delivering technology solutions in the utility industry (e.g., ADMS, EMS, SCADA, AMI, OMS).
- Experience with cloud technologies and microservice-based architectures.
- Power Distribution or Distribution Network experience.
- PMP certification is a plus.

Pay
Salary Range: USD $200,000.00 - USD $250,016.00 per year.
Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program, contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
