About the role

Join a dynamic and expanding company where you can both learn and make a meaningful impact. As a Senior Director of Transportation, you will lead the design, execution, and optimization of First Mile pickup operations, overseeing a $100M+ transportation budget and a team of 10+ managers.

Responsibilities

  • Own First Mile pickup strategy and execution across all transportation modes (trailer, box truck, van, and hybrid solutions), ensuring alignment with network needs.
  • Design and deploy multi-modal pickup models tailored to customer profiles, volume density, and service requirements while optimizing trade-offs between cost, service levels, and scalability.
  • Build and implement end-to-end processes, operating standards, and system workflows to support efficient and scalable pickup operations.
  • Lead network design efforts including customer-to-node mapping, routing strategy, and capacity planning.
  • Oversee transportation spend across a $100M+ budget while developing and managing KPIs for service, cost, asset utilization, and pickup reliability.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce variability, improve predictability, and optimize overall operational efficiency.
  • Lead peak planning, volume surges, and new customer onboardings requiring First Mile transportation readiness.
  • Manage, schedule, and develop teams with full accountability for hiring, performance management, coaching, corrective action, and evaluations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 15+ years of relevant experience leading teams and divisions
  • Comprehensive understanding of transportation, supply chain operations, and logistics in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to design and scale multi-modal transportation solutions
  • Strong competency interpreting operational KPIs, capacity models, cost analysis, and performance metrics
  • Strong operational and financial acumen, including P&L ownership and budget accountability (including ownership of large transportation spend)
  • Proven ability to lead large, diverse teams with accountability for hiring, performance management, coaching, corrective action, and evaluations
  • Up to 20% Travel

Qualifications

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 15 years of relevant experience leading teams and divisions

Pay

The base pay range for this position is $200,000. - $300,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, internal equity, and other job-related factors. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, or other incentive compensation in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan, up to a 30% Bonus Target.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (Hours subject to change based on the needs of the business)

Employment Logistics

This role provides leadership over the design, execution, and optimization of First Mile pickup operations, owning transportation from customer origin through network injection across multiple modalities (trailers, box trucks, vans, and partner solutions).
