Senior Director of Finance & Accounting

New York, NY (Midtown) Hybrid (4 days onsite / Fridays remote) Soni’s client, a dynamic consumer products organization, is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Accounting & Finance to lead the company’s full finance and accounting function. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role within a fast-paced, brand-driven environment where cross-functional partnership and the ability to influence financial and operational decisions are critical. Reporting to executive leadership, the Senior Director of Accounting & Finance will oversee all financial activities, including close, reporting, cash flow, audits, and process optimization. This individual will be responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, strengthening internal controls, managing financing relationships, and delivering timely, actionable insights that drive profitability and scalability. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in public accounting and industry experience, deep consumer products exposure, and the ability to operate both strategically and in the details. Responsibilities of the Senior Director of Accounting & Finance: Lead the month-end and year-end close processes and oversee daily transactions impacting financial resultsPrepare monthly financial reporting, including revenue analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow managementOversee financial, bank, and licensing audits and ensure compliance with all regulatory and tax requirementsImplement and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and financial controlsManage inventory exposure, cost control initiatives, and margin improvement effortsPartner cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and commercial teams to support business performanceOversee customer dilution analysis and related financial impactSupport and manage financing activities, including working within an Asset-Based Lending environmentCreate and improve scalable financial reporting and system-driven processesLead and develop the finance and accounting team Preferred Skills of the Senior Director of Accounting & Finance: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA, MBA, or Master’s in Accounting a plus10–15+ years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or private industry3+ years of public accounting experience (national firm preferred)Proven leadership experience in a mid-to-senior level finance roleBackground in consumer products, preferably within a fashion or brand-focused organizationStrong understanding of supply chain, purchasing, importing, and sales operationsExperience working with 3PL providers and chargeback resolutionERP system experience and strong systems acumenM&A experience a plusExperience with Asset-Based Lending and financial covenants preferred Compensation: $215,000 – $225,000 base + discretionary bonus (Open flexibility for higher compensation for the right candidate) Compensation is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other job-related qualifications.
