About the role
The Director of Engineering is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the design, development, launch, and overall success of all products and engineering programs. This position leads both Development and Production Engineering functions, ensuring seamless execution from initial concept through full-scale manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop Manufacturing and Production Engineering teams
- Set and execute engineering strategy aligned with business goals
- Drive a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Establish and track KPIs to improve performance and efficiency
- Partner with executive leadership on strategic decisions
- Oversee new product development and product launches
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align engineering with business needs
- Ensure structured program execution and production readiness
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles
- Support quoting with accurate cost and resource estimates
- Improve manufacturing processes, tooling, and automation
- Lead Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives
- Enhance product quality and operational performance
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required
- Master's degree preferred
- 10+ years of engineering leadership experience in manufacturing
- Experience leading new product introductions
- Background in process development, tooling, and production systems
- Expertise in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement
- Experience with ERP and manufacturing planning systems
- Proven record of driving operational improvements
- Strong understanding of manufacturing engineering principles
- Strategic thinker with strong business acumen
