About the role

The Senior Director of Pipeline leads the systems and experiences that power software delivery at MongoDB. The role focuses on bringing together major systems and experiences to ensure fast software deployability, leveraging AI native approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Own the strategy, execution, and operating model for MongoDB's end-to-end software delivery pipeline across continuous integration and release enablement functions.
  • Set portfolio priorities and resource allocation in partnership with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, balancing urgent delivery needs with long-term platform investments.
  • Improve the experience of internal engineering users while also raising the bar on reliability, scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
  • Establish and evolve mechanisms for measuring developer productivity, system health, and business impact across the pipeline portfolio.
  • Build a healthy, high-performing organization by growing managers, strengthening succession depth, and creating clarity around expectations, accountability, and career development.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for critical trade-offs and cross-functional issues, ensuring decisions are aligned to company priorities and understood in terms of their downstream consequences.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
  • Experience in developer tooling, platform engineering, observability, or data engineering is a strong plus.
  • 6+ years of experience managing multiple teams and building a strong bench of leaders in a geographically distributed organization.
  • Track record of scaling large software systems used by software engineers, ideally including CI/CD, release, or other developer infrastructure platforms with large scale workloads.
  • Strong judgment across both developer-facing product experience and underlying platform architecture, including user workflows, system reliability, operational insight, and service scalability.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code principles; experience with Kubernetes and AWS is especially valuable.
  • Experience or strong familiarity with software supply chain and release concerns, including reliability, security, and operational rigor.
  • Able to define strategy and drive execution in ambiguous environments with broad organizational impact, acting as a trusted escalation point for complex technical and organizational trade-offs.

Qualifications

  • Passionate about developer productivity.
  • Track record of leading managers and teams through organizational growth, technical complexity, and cross-functional change.
  • Comfortable owning a broad portfolio that spans developer experience, reliability and scale, release systems, telemetry, and operational health.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior leaders and partners across engineering and product to set direction, allocate resources, and make trade-offs that balance near-term delivery with long-term platform function.

Skills

  • Excellent product judgment for developer-facing experiences.
  • Strong systems and platform leadership.
  • The ability to align multiple teams around a cohesive strategy.
