Senior Director of Arts Education & Community Engagement

About the Role

Center Theatre Group (CTG) seeks a visionary and collaborative leader to serve as its next Senior Director of Arts Education & Community Engagement. Reporting to the Artistic Director, this executive leadership role will shape the future of arts education, workforce development, and community engagement at one of the nation's largest nonprofit theatre companies. As CTG enters an exciting new chapter, the Senior Director will develop a unified strategy that connects artistic excellence with meaningful community partnership, expands access to theatre across Los Angeles, and cultivates the next generation of artists, audiences, educators, and cultural leaders. This leader will oversee a talented team while building authentic relationships with schools, nonprofit organizations, community partners, teaching artists, and institutional stakeholders to strengthen CTG's impact throughout the region.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for CTG's arts education, community engagement, and workforce development initiatives while aligning departmental priorities with the organization's artistic vision.
• Lead and mentor a high-performing team of seven full-time staff members and 10–15 teaching artists while fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
• Build and strengthen partnerships with schools, colleges, universities, nonprofit organizations, community leaders, Board members, and funders throughout Los Angeles.
• Oversee departmental operations, strategic planning, and management of an approximately $1.1 million annual budget while supporting fundraising and Board engagement.
• Collaborate closely with Artistic, Institutional Advancement, Marketing, Media & Content, and senior leadership teams to elevate the visibility and impact of education and community engagement across the organization.

Qualifications

• Seven to ten years of progressive leadership experience in arts education, community engagement, or a related field within organizations of comparable complexity or demonstrated success in a growing organization.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, build strong relationships, and develop collaborative organizational cultures.
• Experience designing and growing partnerships with school districts, colleges, universities, nonprofit organizations, educators, and community stakeholders.
• Knowledge of current trends in arts education, pedagogy, workforce development, community engagement, and the role of the arts in civic life.
• Experience working with Boards of Directors and philanthropic partners, including supporting fundraising, grants, or donor engagement.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $150,000–$170,000.
