The Senior Director of Advanced Manufacturing is responsible for leading and scaling manufacturing operations across multiple sites, ensuring alignment to enterprise strategy, operational excellence, and long-term growth. This role provides strategic and operational leadership across core manufacturing functions and is accountable for delivering high-performance, cost-effective, and reliable manufacturing outcomes. This leader operates at both altitude and ground level, driving multi-site performance, building a scalable operating model, and strengthening leadership capability, while partnering closely with Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering to ensure aligned, end-to-end execution across complex, high-mix PCB fabrication environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute a multi-site manufacturing strategy aligned to growth, capacity, and customer demand.
- Establish and drive performance against operational KPIs, including OEE, throughput, yield, scrap, cycle time, and on-time delivery, to support data-driven decision making and continuous improvement.
- Establish and enforce a standard operating model across sites to ensure consistency and scalability.
- Oversee production planning, scheduling, and capacity management to meet short- and long-term demand.
- Drive strong cross-functional alignment between Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, and Quality to execute as one integrated system.
- Lead and develop leadership across multi-site manufacturing operations, building depth and succession capability.
- Champion and embed operational excellence and continuous improvement methodologies into daily operations.
- Own operational financial performance, including labor, materials, overhead, and capital planning.
- Partner on supply chain strategy, including sourcing, inventory optimization, and supplier performance.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer/regulatory requirements.
- Identify and resolve complex, cross-functional operational challenges with high business impact.
- Drive capacity expansion, new program readiness, and operational scaling initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Deep expertise in manufacturing operations, preferably in high-mix, regulated environments.
- Strong command of multi-site operations and capacity planning.
- Advanced knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process optimization.
- Proven ability to lead leaders and build high-performing teams.
- Strong financial acumen, including cost control, budgeting, and ROI analysis.
- Expertise in ERP/MRP systems, production planning, and data-driven decision making.
- Able to navigate complex, ambiguous problems and drive structured solutions.
- Strong executive communication and influencing skills across internal and external stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of quality systems and regulatory standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
- Experience integrating continuous improvement into daily operations.
- Strong change management and transformation leadership capability.
- Able to connect operational decisions to business outcomes, customer impact, and strategy.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 10+ years of manufacturing experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven experience in complex manufacturing environments (microelectronics, aerospace/defense, or similar high-mix/regulated industries preferred).
- Demonstrated success building and scaling multi-site operations and leadership teams.
- Deep experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and operational transformation.
- Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, capacity planning (experience with Epicor a plus).
