Senior Director, Nursing - Perioperative Services - Full Time, Days
About the role
NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is a 306-bed medical center, providing care to residents of eastern Long Island. The hospital facility is home to the Knapp Cardiac Care Center—an advanced heart disease diagnostic and treatment facility—as well as a modern ambulatory surgical pavilion with specialized services including women's imaging, a sleep laboratory, and bariatric surgery.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Director, Nursing - Perioperative Services - Full Time, Days. Provides clinical leadership and management of designated care areas on a twenty-four-hour basis, consistent with the philosophy, goals, and mission of NYU Langone Health.
Responsibilities
- Fosters a culture embedded in NYU's tripartite mission: to serve, to teach, and to discover.
- Designs, implements, and evaluates programs for multiple nursing units or departments.
- Provides executive leadership to ensure compliance with accreditation, regulatory standards, service standards and policies at the organizational, local, state, and federal level.
- Collaborates with the interprofessional team, leading the nursing division to ensure excellence in quality, patient experience, and efficiency.
- Develops positive and productive relationships across disciplines to establish strategic partnerships to achieve shared goals.
- Oversees the development and implementation of interdisciplinary outcome standards.
- Leads interdisciplinary quality and performance improvement projects pertinent to departmental and organizational goals and objectives.
- Fosters positive and productive work and care environments, founded in the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion to attract and retain staff.
- Demonstrates a steadfast commitment to engaging and meaningfully recognizing staff.
- Conducts interviews, hires, develops, and evaluates departmental leadership from orientation through termination, if necessary, according to established standards.
- Evaluates the performance of personnel in a fair and transparent manner.
- Serves as role model by demonstrating visibility, accessibility and effective communication that conveys a strong sense of advocacy and support for staff and leadership.
- Establish a financial plan and utilize data to make strategic decisions.
- Coordinates care delivery using labor productivity data to plan and evaluate staffing patterns, discharge and/or volume targets.
- Guides clinical leaders in planning and validation of staffing patterns.
- Holds self and others accountable for the delivery of exemplary care in a cost-efficient manner.
- Coordinates and facilitates activities to promote service and interdisciplinary teamwork.
- Develop, approve and implement nursing and organizational policy, incorporating the precepts of shared governance.
- Collects, analyzes, and utilizes data to drive practice changes that integrate quality, safety, patient experience, and productivity metrics to achieve excellence in patient and nursing outcomes.
- Drives staff involvement in nursing research and evidence-based practice efforts.
- Develops positive and productive relationships across disciplines to establish strategic partnerships to achieve shared goals.

- Responsible for maintaining knowledge and ensuring compliance with the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and responding timely to Step 2 grievances.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Professional Nurse licensure in New York State.
- Doctoral degree (PhD or DNP) in clinical nursing practice or research required.
- Certification in nursing leadership required.
- Ability to apply nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion to address patient/family satisfaction and quality indicators.
- Excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, organization, critical thinking, problem solving, and leadership skills.
- Minimum 5 Years Leadership Or Supervisory Experience.
Pay
The salary range for the role is $128,979.98 - $217,136.52 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
