Senior Director, Mission United - Hybrid

United Way Miami, Inc. is seeking a Senior Director, Mission United to lead and grow the Mission United initiative, assisting Miami-Dade military veterans with re-acclimation to civilian life through case management and directed assistance in benefits navigation, employment, legal, and financial services.

About the Role

As Senior Director, Mission United, you will develop and implement a strategic business plan for the program, ensuring clear, results-oriented targets. You will lead the Mission United team, oversee day-to-day operations, and foster strategic partnerships to maximize impact in the community.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a strategic business plan for the program, including planning, implementation, sustainment, growth, and evaluation.
• Define success metrics for veterans served and hold the program accountable to those outcomes.
• Assess program performance, identifying successes and areas for improvement, and adjust course based on evidence.
• Lead the Mission United team by setting clear direction, high standards, and providing support for team members.
• Supervise subordinate employees, including training, performance measurement, and disciplinary actions; authority to hire, transfer, promote, or terminate.
• Address performance issues directly and constructively, tied to observable standards.
• Oversee day-to-day operations, activities, and performance to ensure effective service delivery and client outreach.
• Establish evaluation metrics and protocols to assess client and initiative outcomes.
• Oversee data collection and management, ensuring high standards of accuracy; prepare and deliver program reports.
• Manage the Advisory Committee and all subcommittees.
• Develop and manage strategic partnerships to enhance Mission United’s impact.
• Promote Mission United to the Miami-Dade community, local businesses, and social service groups.
• Lead and organize community engagement events connecting veterans and their families to Mission United.
• Represent the program and United Way at community meetings, conferences, and committees.
• Engage with other internal United Way areas to maximize opportunities.
• Fully participate in United Way’s crisis plan and response efforts.

Requirements

• BA/BS required; Master’s degree preferred or 10+ years of relevant leadership experience.
• Minimum of five years’ experience managing people and projects.
• Knowledge of the needs of military veterans is essential.
• Experience with local community engagement and project management.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams).
• Strong oral and written communication skills, customer relations, and creative problem-solving abilities.
• Good judgment, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, multitask in a fast-paced environment, and thrive in a team setting.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Pay

$85,746–$103,522.16 annually.

Schedule

Hybrid: 2 days remote and 3 days on-site.
