About the Role
Responsible for leading laboratory services across Valley Health System. Must be able to lead through both direct and matrixed relationships, build a culture of collaboration and transparency, and refine and implement the vision for laboratory services across Valley Health System.
Responsibilities
- Refine and implement the vision for lab services across Valley Health System.
- Oversight of all personnel decisions including performance reviews, staff engagement, hiring, coaching, and terminating when necessary.
- Drive a High Reliability Culture in the labs and work collaboratively with all areas to support and improve quality, transparency, and patient care.
- Direct reporting for Winchester Medical Center and a mix of direct and matrixed reporting for other facilities and areas.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Laboratory Medical Director, pathologists, and medical staff.
- Focus on quality and process to continually improve care.
- Oversee budgeting, financial management, purchasing, and standardization to achieve appropriate financial and stewardship goals.
- Participate and lead various committees related to lab services across the organization.
- Participate in Winchester Medical Center Senior Leadership Team, Valley Health System Directors Team, and various forums at other facilities.
- Oversight for Process Improvement and regulatory compliance including CAP inspection accreditation.
- Manage equipment planning and acquisition.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Physical Biological Science required.
- Masters of Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Public Health required.
- Eight years laboratory operations, combination of technical and supervisory experience required.
- Five years leadership experience required.
- Certified Medical Technologist (MT) required.
Qualifications
- Proven managerial skills required.
- Knowledge of budget preparation and monitoring, and accreditation requirements required.
- Ability to coordinate operations of large, technical and office support staff required.
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with many departments as well as the community and outside agencies required.
- Ability to achieve outcomes and lead in a matrixed environment required.
- Proven experience in lean, six sigma or similar process improvement methods required.
