About the role

Compound Planning is a high-growth digital family office with over $4B in AUM added since 2022. We serve entrepreneurs, professionals, and retirees through a powerful combination of personalized financial advisory and a proprietary technology platform. Our cross-functional team of advisors, tax experts, engineers, and operators is building the financial institution of the future, one grounded in rigor, client trust, and operational excellence. As a Senior Director, Investments, you will own alternatives - public/private due diligence, portfolio construction, and translating investment thinking into guidance advisors can actually use with clients.

What You'll Do

  • Lead Alternatives: Own research, due diligence, and monitoring across private credit, PE, VC, real estate, infrastructure, hedge funds, and other diversifiers
  • Chair the Alternative Investment Subcommittee — agendas, diligence, recommendations, follow-through
  • Manage manager relationships; recommend based on source of return, portfolio role, structure, liquidity, fees, and client value
  • Help Shape the Platform: Build frameworks for allocation sizing, liquidity, diversification, and pacing alongside traditional investments
  • Sit on the Public Markets Subcommittee; contribute to ETF-based model portfolios and asset allocation decisions
  • Work with Engineering/Product on how investment intelligence is delivered through internal tools
  • Partner with Advisors: Serve as investment partner to Wealth Advisors on portfolio construction and complex client conversations
  • Build scalable frameworks and education so advisors at any experience level can use alternatives well
  • Cross-Firm Collaboration: Work with CIO, Investment Committee, Alternative Investment Subcommittee, Public Markets Subcommittee
  • Coordinate with Compliance/Legal on regulatory requirements, Operations/Trading on implementation

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years relevant investment experience (RIA, multi-family office, OCIO, consultant, allocator, or asset manager)
  • Direct alternatives due diligence experience + strong public markets/ETF/asset allocation knowledge
  • Track record presenting to an Investment Committee
  • Direct advisor/client-facing experience — and enjoys it
  • Strong quant/qual analysis and communication skills
  • Comfortable building process in ambiguity, across functional lines
  • Bachelor's required; CFA/CAIA preferred (or in progress)
  • Nice to have: Koyfin, Morningstar, YCharts, Orion Risk Intelligence, or similar; familiarity with AI-enabled investment tools (no dev skills required)

Our Investment Philosophy

We favor investments with understandable sources of return and a clear role in the portfolio — durable principles over market narratives. Alternatives matter when used deliberately, always in the context of the client's full financial picture.

The Opportunity

This role suits an experienced investment professional ready for real ownership: direct CIO partnership, influence over both alternative and public-market strategy, and a hand in building one of the industry's most thoughtful investment platforms. We're looking for a fundamental thinker, clear communicator, and builder.
