Overview

Capital One’s GSE Closing Team within Commercial Client Operations (CCO) provides support for the Commercial Real Estate/Agency Finance business, working across a wide range of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac products and loan types. Our goal is to deliver an exceptional client experience to our internal partners, external investors and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the team, including serving as a key point of escalation. Rapidly triage and escalate complex issues or non-compliance as appropriate. Engage in real-time problem solving for critical enterprise issues.
  • Supervise the closing and delivery of transactions across Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac products in an efficient, compliant, and client-centric manner by coordinating with other Agency Finance departments as required. Liaise across functions to ensure product and legal compliance and timely processing.
  • Maintain a forward looking point of view on industry trends, including how to drive the development, structuring and roll out of new technology, intelligent automation and tactical process changes required to improve loan closing & delivery activities and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements impacting the business.
  • Identify and lead integration and process enhancement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Risk, Legal, Compliance and other partner teams to ensure all processes support a strong control environment; Manage Issue and Event remediation.
  • Responsible for budgeting, purchasing, internal systems and salary administration.
  • Ensure consistent and up-to-date policies and procedures exist across the team; direct improvement on procedures, policies, and training programs for all loan products.
  • Develop and lead the strategic vision for Loan Administration in partnership with other departmental leaders, aligning with the vision, goals and objectives of the Commercial Bank and CCO.
  • Develop and lead team capable of preparing necessary loan documentation or interfacing with outside counsel to ensure that the proper documentation is prepared and that all transactions are closed in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant banking regulations.
  • Set the direction for the development and implementation of a continuous process improvement program to insure optimally productive and efficient performance.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the team to ensure that they meet internal customer expectations and service level agreements, that appropriate financial and accounting controls are in place, that all activities are conducted in full compliance with all policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines; and that the integrity of customer information is maintained at all times.
  • Be a strong leader of leaders, developing a culture of inclusion built upon team engagement and enablement. Develop and build organizational talent, including attracting future talent and ensuring proactive succession plans for operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure that adequate business continuity/disaster recovery procedures are in place, meet corporate standards and are tested appropriately.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience
  • At least 10 years of experience in loan operations, legal or commercial real estate
  • At least 5 years of People Management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 12+ years experience in loan operations, legal or commercial real estate in a highly regulated environment
  • At least 10+ years of experience implementing or improving processes and associated controls
  • At least 5+ years of experience leading through change, including driving execution

Pay

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
