About the role

This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations. The Senior Director, Facilities Construction leads the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale construction and capital improvement projects across Blue Origin's growing enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for all facilities construction projects across Blue Origin's portfolio of sites, including launch complexes, manufacturing facilities, test stands, and office campuses.
  • Develop and manage a multi-year capital construction roadmap aligned with business priorities and program milestones.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of internal construction professionals; foster a culture of accountability, safety, and excellence.
  • Oversee the full project lifecycle from site selection and programming through design, permitting, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Establish and enforce rigorous project management standards, processes, and reporting frameworks across all projects.
  • Partner with procurement and legal teams to negotiate and manage contracts with architects, engineers, general contractors, and specialty subcontractors.
  • Drive construction safety culture and ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and Blue Origin EHS standards.
  • Manage capital budgets ranging from hundreds of millions to over a billion dollars; provide accurate and timely financial forecasting and reporting to senior leadership.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks proactively; resolve escalated issues with contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with program and engineering teams to ensure facilities are designed and built to meet technical and operational requirements.
  • Evaluate and implement technology and process improvements that drive efficiency, cost savings, and quality outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field — OR equivalent hands-on construction experience, including progression through the trades, field supervision, and construction management roles.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in construction management, with a strong emphasis on large-scale, complex industrial or mission-critical facilities.
  • 7+ years of senior leadership experience managing large, multi-disciplinary construction teams and programs.
  • Deep knowledge of construction delivery methods (Design-Build, CM at Risk, Design-Bid-Build), contracting strategies, and project controls.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing large capital budgets and driving cost discipline.
  • Prominent ability to lead through influence across a highly matrixed organization.
  • Exceptional communication and executive presentation skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance as required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $400,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
