Responsible for driving both financial performance and mission impact across multiple districts. Ensures that retail operations effectively convert donated goods into mission funding through disciplined execution, strong leadership, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Oversee multiple districts, encompassing a significant portfolio of retail stores across the Greater Houston region.
- Accountable for regional revenue generation, expense management, donation processing, and leadership development.
- Provide senior-level leadership and direction to District Leaders to ensure alignment with GWH’s retail and mission strategies.
- Translate enterprise priorities into actionable regional plans that focus on revenue growth, donation maximization, and operational consistency.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the VP, DGR, contributing to DGR strategy, performance improvement, and long-term growth.
- Lead regional transformation efforts to improve scalability, consistency, and overall effectiveness of retail operations.
- Own regional profit and loss performance with a strong focus on revenue generation through donated goods.
- Drive sales growth, donor value, and throughput to maximize funding for workforce development (WFD) programs.
- Lead forecasting, budgeting, and financial reviews, ensuring accountability across districts.
- Continuously improve key drivers, including sales per square foot, sell-through, salvage reduction, labor productivity, and average transaction value.
- Partner with the Transportation and Donation Acquisition teams to maximize donation flow, quality, and processing efficiency.
- Ensure stores follow standards that optimize sorting, production, pricing, and floor replenishment.
- Drive strategies that improve donor engagement, retention, and lifetime value.
- Ensure consistent execution of GWH’s retail standards, policies, and procedures.
- Use data and KPIs to identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain full accountability for CARF compliance, safety standards, and asset protection.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve consistency across stores.
- Build, develop, and retain high-performing District Leaders and store leadership teams.
- Strengthen leadership pipelines to ensure long-term organizational stability and growth.
- Foster a culture that reflects GWH’s values, with an emphasis on accountability, inclusion, safety, and mission connection.
- Partner with Human Resources (HR) and Learning & Development to advance leadership capability and employee engagement.
- Collaborate closely with Workforce Development, Finance, HR, Compliance, IT, Transportation, and Marketing to align retail operations with mission goals.
- Support the successful execution of new store openings, relocations, remodels, and operational initiatives.
- Champion adoption of systems, tools, and data-driven practices to enhance operational performance.
- Conduct regular field visits and structured business reviews focused on operational performance, leadership effectiveness, safety, and brand standards.
- Ensure District Leaders conduct consistent store visits with clear follow-through and accountability.
- Represent GWH in the community to strengthen partnerships and support donation growth.
- Support organization-wide initiatives that enhance both retail performance and mission delivery.
- Perform other duties as directed by management to support evolving organizational needs.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in business, operations, or a related field is required; an advanced degree is preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive multi-unit retail, thrift, or operations leadership experience.
- Proven success managing full P&L responsibility across multiple locations.
- Experience in high-volume, donation-driven, or inventory-turn retail environments strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead leaders, drive change, and improve performance across dispersed teams.
- Strong financial acumen, analytical capability, and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and executive presence.
- Valid Texas driver’s license and ability to travel frequently across the Greater Houston region.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship for current or future employment.
