Senior Director Data Science Product Management

About the role

This position is responsible for managing and leading a team of product managers that own multiple Data Science Products or Portfolios of Products. You will work closely with customers to understand their needs and translate these into Data Science Products that add business value. Responsibilities include writing technical requirements, prioritizing features, coordinating stakeholders, and promoting product usage and understanding across a broad audience. You are ultimately accountable for the successful delivery and implementation of the Product. Data Scientists and Data Engineers working on a product will have an indirect reporting relationship to you.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the annual budget and allocate resources for various projects and operational needs.
• Translate customer needs and initiatives into compelling business cases.
• Conduct cost-benefit analyses to justify investments and ensure ROI.
• Lead the delivery of multiple complex analytics or data science projects and products.
• Develop, coach, manage, and lead junior analytics, data science, or product management staff while providing thought leadership.
• Influence and steer data-driven decision making in a matrixed environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics, or related quantitative field OR
• Actuarial credential or 2 or more advanced degrees and 6 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics, or related quantitative field OR
• Ph.D. and 4 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics, or related quantitative field.
• 4 years of leadership and/or management experience.
• Learning and growth mindset with a customer-focused approach.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in at least five of the following six areas:
  1. Data analysis and relational-style query languages;
  2. Machine learning and/or statistical modeling;
  3. Data visualization;
  4. A high-level programming language;
  5. Distributed computing;
  6. Understanding of healthcare.
• Experience with user-centered and iterative data science product development.
• Ability to lead the delivery of multiple complex analytics or data science projects and products.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a computational field, or Bachelor’s degree with significant healthcare experience.
• SQL and Hive experience.
• Experience with Iterative / Agile / Scrum development.

Pay

$161,500.00 - $299,700.00. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
