Senior Director, Data Center Support Services
About the role
This position is located in Shackleford, Texas. At Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), we build the future of the cloud for enterprises as a diverse team of creators and inventors. We operate with the speed and attitude of a start-up, combined with the scale and customer focus of one of the world's leading enterprise technology companies. As OCI continues to expand its cloud and AI infrastructure footprint, the scale and complexity of our data center operations are increasing significantly.
Responsibilities
- Own and lead large-scale data center operations across one of Oracle's North America 'Go Big' sites, spanning deployment and ongoing production operations.
- Build the operating model, systems, processes, and organizational capabilities required to run an increasingly large and complex data center footprint.
- Create a highly scalable operations environment where growth is enabled through better systems, automation, processes, tooling, and operating mechanisms - not simply through incremental headcount.
- Establish operating mechanisms that improve throughput, productivity, quality, reliability, and speed across the organization.
- Oversee technician organizations responsible for hardware deployment, break/fix activities, GPU rack installation, compute infrastructure connectivity, and customer deployment.
- Develop and drive the NPI process strategy, ensuring new infrastructure products, technologies, and deployment models can be introduced consistently and at scale.
- Establish world-class spare parts and inventory management capabilities that ensure required hardware is available where and when it is needed without creating unnecessary operational cost or complexity.
- Apply a strong software and automation mindset to data center operations, identifying opportunities to remove manual work, automate repeatable processes, and use systems and data to drive better operational decisions.
- Partner closely with engineering, infrastructure, supply chain, construction, deployment, capacity planning, and other cross-functional organizations to improve the end-to-end data center lifecycle.
- Develop the leadership bench and organizational capabilities required to support Oracle's continued infrastructure growth.
Requirements
- Significant experience leading large-scale, people-intensive operations in data centers, cloud infrastructure, fulfillment, logistics, manufacturing, or another highly complex operational environment.
- Proven experience operating at hyperscale and building systems that allow organizations to grow significantly without increasing headcount proportionally.
- Demonstrated ability to design operating models that manage work, capacity, throughput, productivity, quality, and performance systematically rather than relying primarily on organizational hierarchy or additional staffing.
- A strong systems and software mindset, with a track record of using automation, tooling, data, and process engineering to improve operational performance.
- Deep experience building repeatable operating mechanisms and scalable processes across multiple sites or large distributed organizations.
- Strong understanding of data center hardware operations, including hardware deployment, break/fix, compute infrastructure, GPU rack deployment, inventory, spare parts, and repair operations.
- Technical depth sufficient to engage effectively with engineering and infrastructure teams and understand the operational implications of evolving compute and GPU architectures.
- Experience managing infrastructure through multiple stages of its lifecycle, from deployment and introduction of new technology through steady-state operations, repair, replacement, and retirement.
- Experience developing or scaling new product introduction (NPI) processes in a complex infrastructure or hardware environment.
- Ability to distinguish between problems that require additional resources and problems that should be solved through better systems, processes, automation, or organizational design.
- Bias for action and strong focus on measurable results.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment characterized by significant growth, technical complexity, and rapidly evolving business requirements.
