About the Role

The Senior Director of Commercial Finance leads the commercial finance function by driving financial strategy, financial DCF modeling, forecasting, and profitability analysis. This role is a key business partner to Sales, Marketing, and Product teams across various businesses like Clinical, Pharma, and ODS. This position requires a deep understanding of both finance and business operations, with a strong background in scaling finance functions in high-growth environments. This position will be remote.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Business Partnering: Work cross-functionally with Commercial (Sales, Marketing, Product) leaders to support revenue growth, optimize pricing strategies, incentive compensation strategies, and influence business decisions through financial insights
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for commercial functions. Develop models to drive revenue, margin, and customer profitability analyses
  • Performance Management: Create and manage KPIs and dashboards to evaluate business performance, sales productivity, customer acquisition cost (CAC), LTV, and ROI on marketing spend
  • New Product Modeling: Partner with product management to build financial models supporting new product launches, including presenting to leadership and tracking performance post-launch
  • Revenue & Margin Optimization: Analyze drivers of revenue and gross margin performance. Recommend strategies to increase efficiency and profitability
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing Commercial Finance team. Provide mentorship, performance management, and professional development opportunities
  • Stakeholder Communication: Present financial insights and strategic recommendations to executive leadership, the CFO, and CEO when needed
  • Additional Responsibilities: Attend continuing education programs or workshops; present best practices to the team; participate in ongoing corporate training as assigned. Other duties as assigned by the Finance leadership team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics; MBA/CPA/CMA preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in finance roles, including significant experience in commercial finance or FP&A
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • Strong knowledge of financial planning and analysis (FP&A), budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, business performance management, accounting principles, and financial controls
  • Advanced analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills with the ability to convert complex data into actionable business insights
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, financial planning tools, Microsoft Excel, and business intelligence/data visualization platforms
  • Proven ability to partner with business leaders, influence stakeholders, communicate effectively with executives, and lead cross-functional initiatives
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in healthcare, diagnostics, life sciences, or other regulated industries preferred

Schedule

Ability to travel as required by role (10-25% of the time).
