About the role
The Senior Director - Academic Affairs will serve in a strategic and operating leadership role within Academic Affairs at MaineHealth, encompassing the Department of Medical Education, the Research Institute, and the Innovation Center.
Responsibilities
- Oversee functions and performance of corporate administration including Organizational Development; Information Technology; Real Estate and Facilities Planning; Faculty Appointments and Promotions; Contracts and Agreements; Intellectual Property; Academic and Strategic Partnerships; Personnel Performance and Interventions; Philanthropy and Grants; Process Improvement and Performance; Communications and Marketing; Community Benefit; and Business and Strategic Planning and Development.
- Design tactics to meet strategic financial, operational, academic, and administrative goals.
- Member of the Academic Affairs Cabinet, which includes the Vice Presidents/Senior Directors of Education, Research, and Innovation.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in administration (MBA, MHA, MPA) or other related field required. Doctoral degree preferred.
- 5 years of senior executive or leadership experience in an organizational setting. Healthcare and/or academic medical center experience preferred.
- Proven success in progressive leadership positions and assuming increased work responsibility, demonstrating a broad knowledge base for the key functions of a complex organization.
- Ability to lead policy development, strategic planning, program and project administration, with strong financial and management reporting expertise.
- Demonstrated leadership, analytical, and organizational skills; communicates effectively across all organizational levels and stakeholders; able to work independently in alignment with institutional goals and during periods of change.
Preferred
- Knowledge of research and quality regulatory requirements, medical education and faculty affairs, customer service and conflict resolution, and innovation pathways within complex, evolving organizations.
