Senior Digital Sculptor

About the role

The Senior Digital Sculptor’s expertise is generating Class-A CAD surface models using 3D software to translate the design intent, incorporating technical and engineering criteria and manufacturing feasibility inputs. Their objective is to capture the design intent using Alias through guidance from the designer, ensuring CAD surface continuity and fidelity, data transfer and export, and release of high-quality Class-A surface data to Engineering groups, suppliers, and Modeling Studio property builds.

Responsibilities

• Develop Class-A surfaces utilizing scan data, design sketches, 3D sketch models, and verbal direction.
• Work closely with Studio Engineer, Design, Modeling Studio staff, and Engineering to develop designs meeting requirements and packaging constraints.
• Develop and release Class-A surface CAD models from approved styling themes using Alias.
• Understand all phases of the Industrial Design process and execute multiple projects from concept through surface release.
• Coordinate packaging constraints with product engineering, PTC, and suppliers to ensure accurate CAD surface models and scale model development.
• Manage programs and projects to deliver products within schedule and budget targets.
• Handle multiple tasks and rapidly respond to model or packaging revisions and product changes.
• Demonstrate professional communication skills (verbal/written) with strong interpersonal abilities.
• Identify, prioritize, and coordinate resolution of manufacturing feasibility between Industrial Design and Engineering Design.
• Proactively define issues, force early resolution, and solve complex surface development with minimal supervision.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Transportation, or Engineering-related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in creating concept and Class-A advanced digital surfaces.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in a transportation design studio.
• Highly proficient Alias skills.
• Knowledge of heavy truck assembly, components, and systems preferred.
• Strong surface modeling skills and ability to handle multiple assignments.
• Portfolio required demonstrating skills and projects.

Pay

The salary range for Senior Digital Sculptor is $104,100 - $162,900 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift.
